President gives strong leadership to country - Asgiriya, Malwatte Prelates

"Despite international pressure, our President continues to give a strong leadership to the country by defeating terrorism," the Chief Prelates of the Asgiriya and Malwatte Chapters said.

The Chief Prelates made these remarks before Minister of Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Keheliya Rambukwella when the latter paid a courtesy call on the Prelates on Saturday in Kandy.

"President Mahinda Rajapaksa set an example as a strong and resolute leader by making a trip to Kilinochchi at a time when the war against terrorism has reached a decisive stage," the Chief Prelates said.

The Minister handed over a three-wheeler for the use of the Asgiriya Maha Viharaya and also donated a Korean gold plated Buddha statue worth Rs. 4.5 million at this occasion.

Registrar of Asgiriya Chapter Ven. Anamaduwe Dhammadassi Thera and Senior Advisor to the Minister Ven. Kahagala Seelananda Thera were also present.
