Mahanayake Theras tell newly appointed envoys:

Lankan Ambassadors should enlighten about Govt's sincere efforts

It is the bounden duty of foreign ambassadors to enlighten their respective countries of the sincere efforts taken by the Sri Lanka Government to free the innocent Tamils from the scourge of terrorists and thus bring about permanent peace to Sri Lanka, the Chief Prelates of Malwatte and Asgiri Chapters said.

The Venerable Mahanayake Thera made these advisory remarks when three ambassadors designated to Norway, Kenya and Brazil called on them in Kandy yesterday.

Rodney Perera (Norway), Jayantha Dissanayake (Kenya) and A.M.J. Sadik (Brazil) are the three new ambassadors who paid a courtesy call before their departure.

Representatives from Norway continued to help the LTTE under the guise of peace. They underestimated the explanations given by Sri Lanka Government.

As a consequence of this Sri Lankan Embassy in Norway was attacked recently. Asgiriya Maha Nayaka Thera Most. Venerable Udugama Sri Buddha Rakkitha Thera said.

Mahanayake Thera of Malwatte Chapter Most Ven Tibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Thera said that certain Embassies were reduced to mere rest houses for retired government servants in the past. The Most Ven Thera added that young ambassadors were needed to add dynamism to this sector in the future.
