Tiger jailed in Chennai

A member of the banned Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) was remanded to judicial custody in Chennai on Saturday, police said.

Officials from the Q Branch wing of the Tamil Nadu police dealing with extremist activities said the man, identified as Muthanna, was arrested on Friday night with global positioning system equipment.

The arrest came after specific information disclosed by Jayanathan, another LTTE member arrested earlier, they said.

Muthanna had come from Mullaitivu.
