Methodist High School triumph

Methodist High School, Puwakaramba, Moratuwa beat visiting Royal Hospital School, Halsgrove, Norwich, England by one wicket in their under 15 limited overs cricket match played at Prince of Wales' College grounds, Moratuwa.

The visitors batting first were all out for 170 runs in their alloted 35 overs with Ben Allday scoring a magnificent 104 runs. None of their other batsmen could not enter double figures. Shahan Chaturanga took 3 for 25 while Nirmal Sulakshana bagged 3 for 11 for Methodians.

Methodians in reply scored the required runs with four balls to spare with one wicket intact. Luke Joles captured 5 for 16 for the visitors. Christy Bernard top scored for homester with 84 runs.

Chief scores:

Royal Hospital School - 170 in 35 overs - Ben Allday 104, Nirmal Sulakshana 3/11, Shahan Chaturanga 3/25.

Methodist High School - 174/9 in 34.2 overs - Christy Bernard 84, Suresh Buddhika 36, Luke Joles 5/16.
