Home guard in shooting spree

A home guard shot dead two of his family members and injured his wife on Thursday night in Wahalkada, Kebithigollawe.

He later shot himself and is critical. Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said the home guard shot dead his mother-in-law and brother-in-law at their residence in Wahalkada around 7 p.m. over a family dispute. The home guard shot dead the two with his T56 rifle, he added.

The home guard's wife injured in the incident is being treated at the Padaviya hospital.
