Record collection for Api Wenuwen Api Wemu
The housing project for Armed Forces' members known as Api Wenuwen
Api Wemu took a giant stride in Italy, when a musical troupe comprising
19 artistes from the Armed Services held its second variety
entertainment in Milan.
Over 98,000 Euros were collected from the crowd who gathered at the
Alcatraz Hall. The Sri Lanka Embassy in Italy with the help of all Sri
Lankan organizations in Italy rallied round the Lion Flag and the
leadership given by the Sri Lanka Ambassador in Italy, Hemantha
Warnakulasuriya P.C. and Coordinator, Minister Counsel Chandrapala
Liyanage.
The Embassy, to ensure absolute accountability has launched a website
apiwenuwenapi.it so that all collections, donations and contributions
will be reflected in it.
The first segment of the tour was in Verona in Tatroalva and the
second in Milan at the Alcatraz Hall, and on April 11 at Piyaso Danta in
Napoli. The Sri Lanka Embassy in Italy has collected 156,930 Euros .
It is expected to collect 200,000 Euros which is Rs 32 million
sufficient to build 40 houses and once the target is achieved, the
Embassy will request Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa to have a
special enclave called Itali Ranawiru Gama in the Ranaviru Village.
Once this is done, the Sri Lankan community in Italy will support the
occupants of these 40 houses in many other matters like education of the
children. |
