Dehiwela flyover: Work begins

The construction work of the Dehiwala flyover commenced yesterday
aiming to ease the huge traffic congestion in Colombo and the suburbs.
The estimated cost for the project would be Rs.870 million which will be
funded by the UK.
This two lane flyover is due to be completed by August. The length of
the flyover is 337 metres while the width is 7.35 metres.
Mabey and Johnson Company of the UK and Access Engineering Ltd in Sri
Lanka will handle the construction work which will be supervised by the
Road Development Authority.
This project will save time and money of commuters, vehicle owners
and passengers affected by the traffic congestion in Dehiwala for the
past few decades.
The Chief UPFA Organizer for Dehiwala and Colombo District UPFA
candidate Keerthi Udawatta said that this program would create adequate
development in the town.
"It would vastly benefit the people while upgrading the national road
system and take the country towards development," he said. |
