JKH extends acceptance period

John Keells Holdings PLC (JKH) has decided to extend the Acceptance Period for the mandatory Offer to purchase all the remaining ordinary shares of Union Assurance PLC until May 4, 2009 as due to the public holidays during April 2009, shareholders may not have had sufficient time to become acquainted with and evaluate the Offer made by JKH along with the Independent Advisor's Report and the views, comments and advice of the Board of Directors of Union Assurance PLC. Extending the Acceptance Period would give all shareholders adequate time to accept the offer if they so wish.

All other terms and conditions of the Offer will remain unchanged as per the Offer Document dated March 26.
