Protein against cancer cells found
UNITED STATES: A team of scientists has identified a protein that may
block the division of cancer tumor cells, said the Journal of Cell
Biology in its most recent edition Monday.
Experts from Rockefeller University determined the effects of the
SIRT 1 protein in investigations with animals, on the c-Myc Factor,
which is found in breast, colon and liver cancer.
Some earlier research had suggested the possibility that the SIRT 1
protein can inhibit the development of cancer, but this research said it
was necessary to control the SIRT 1 protein, because it could help the
tumor cells growth.
The study conducted by scientists of Rockefeller University ensured
the fact that the SIRT 1 protein reduces the levels of glucose in the
blood.
It is also believed that the protein might prevent neuro-degenerative
illnesses such as Alzheimer Disease.
