The 22nd Annual General Meeting of Association of Past Inland Revenue
Officers was held at Sindhi Community Centre, Colombo 3 recently. A
large number of members were present.
The following office bearers were elected at this meeting: President

- N. Karunai Ananthan; Treasurer - V. Selvarajah.

A. Velupillai, 97 years, the oldest member was felicitated at the
meeting and was the guest of honour.

A senior planter JEDB chairman
Former

Daluwatte has been re-appointed as JEDB Chairman.
Daluwatte is an experienced planter and served in many State and
Private Plantations.
This is the first time of the history that the same chairman brought
back to the same post after 8 years.

Muslim Administrative officer, Galle
Mohamed Nalin Noor Sufna of Galle who sat for the Sri Lanka
Administrative Service Examination in 2008, has been appointed an
Administrative Officer in Galle district as she passed the Examination
successfully.
She was the first Muslim woman who got this high post, from Galle
district. An old girl of Southland Balika Maha Vidyalaya, Galle is a
graduate of Colombo University. She is the daughter of A.H.Nalim
(Principal, G/Kandewatte Al-Miran Vidyalaya) and Mrs. M.H. Siththi.
She is also a member of Saviya Development Foundation and Rotary
Club, Galle.
NFOA Executive Committee
NGO Forum on Ageing (NFOA) at their Annual General Meeting held on

Sri Lanka Council for the Blind
The 34th anniversary ceremony of the Sri Lanka Council for the Blind
was heldat the Public Library auditorium, Colombo recently. The
following office bearers were elected for the year 2009.

Zahira College Colombo Group of 60s fund raising launch
The fund raising launch organised by the Zahira College Group of 60s
was held at the Global Tower, Marine Drive, Colombo 6 on March 28. It
was attended by a large gathering consisting of professionals, leading
businessmen and well-wishers-titled “Seeking Partnership towards crowing
Moments” was a strategic approach to broad band the sources of funding
for the various projects that the Zahira Group of sixties have planned
for the future to develop and uplift the standards of eduction and
sports at Zahira.
Zahira 60s has already completed the following projects: Gymnasium
for the students, Washrooms for the staff, Computer Lab for Primary,
Seminar series for GCE O/L and A/L Students, Educational Program for
rugby players scholarships, recognition of national rugby players
members day, Ifthar Program, sponsored Inter House Rugby and Cricket
Tournaments, Purchase of 40 seater a Leyknad Bus for Zahira, Inter
School Invitation Rugby Sevens and Monthly Newsletter of G Sixties.
Chairman Group of 60s Riza Abdeen thanked the members of Zahira Group
of 60s who made donations and well-wishers. |
