It was an important day in the history of the Kalutara Bar when all
senior and junior members assembled to pay tribute to a distinguished
member of the Kalutara Bar, senior attorney-at-law Amarawansa
Ladduwahetty on his completing 50 years of practice.
After unveiling the portrait of Ladduwahetty at the Kalutara Law
Library, former Supreme Court Judge, Justice Priyanatha Perera said he
remembers Ladduwahetty as a senior member of the Kalutara Bar at the
time he (Justice Priyantha Perera) commenced his career as an attorney
of the Supreme Court in Kalutara.
As a junior member of the Bar he was very much impressed by
Ladduwahetty's great ability as a counsel on the civil side.
'Ladduwahetty's firm grasp of legal principles and the thoroughness
with which he researched a point of law was indeed amazing'.
Ladduwahetty's great persuasive powers won for him the confidence of
both the Bench and the Bar, the former Supreme Court Judge said. "I wish
Ladduwahetty many more successful years at this Bar, I am happy to
observe that three of his sons have followed the footsteps of their
illustrious father and are today performing tremendously well in the
profession," the former SC Judge said. |
