The New Year - 2009 dawns along with the cuckoo's victorious singing, binding of the Sinhalese and Tamil communities together in real and genuine brotherhood after decades in the grip of LTTE terrorism, says North Central Chief Minister Berty Premalal Dissanayake in his New Year message.

Today at the dawn of the New Year festive season our gallant war heroes spearheaded by President Mahinda Rajapaksa and the Defence Secretary have defeated the LTTE.

Dawning in this most important juncture is a commemorative New Year linked to a new vision and a mission.

I wish wholeheartedly a happy and prosperous New Year which is crucial and historic, said the Chief Minister.
