Lankan Cricketers excel in Dhaka
The Dhaka Sri Lankan Cricket Club led by Asanga Waduge convincingly
beat the three times winners Chittagong Cricket Club by 46 runs in their
17th annual limited over cricket match staged in the B.K.S.P. Grounds
Savar Dhaka, Bangladesh recently, The Dhaka Sri Lankans posted 226 runs
losing 8 wickets in their allotted 35 overs.
The pick of the players was Ruwan Kalpage with an excellent batting
display. Ruwan Kalpage who made a sterling 103 not out showed abundant
skills and excellent concentration and treated the Chittagong Sri Lanka
Cricket Club bowlers with disdain. The main scorers for Dhaka CC were
Ruwan Kalpage 103 n.o. and Malinda a circumspect 54 n.o. (The Bowling
figures were Thushara 6-1-30-3, Upali Wickramaratne 6-0-45-3).
In reply the Chittagong team who played admirably replied 180 runs
for 9 wkts in 35 overs. Udayanga 35 runs and Charuka 30. (Bowling
Figures were R. Kalpage 7-1-24-2 and Jailan Jayah 7-1-27-2).
The awards were as follows: Best Batsman - Ruwan Kalpage. (Dhaka CC).
Best Bowler: Thushara Sampath (Chittagong CC), Best Fielder: Charuka
Jayathissa (Chittagong CC) and Man of the Match: Ruwan Kalpage (Dhaka
CC).
