Rural agri-based produce for New Year

The Hadabima Authority has launched a program to market rural agricultural produce among consumers in the hill capital at reasonable prices during the New Year Festive Season.

Under this program, produce such as vegetables, fruits, cowpea, green gram and other subsidiary food items will be available at its head office at Peradeniya at affordable prices, a spokesman for the Agricultural Development and Agrarian Services Ministry said.

This special marketing program will continue till April 10, Hadabima Chairman Nandasena Herath said. Herath said this is a result of the success of a series of development programs launched by the Authority parallel to the Agricultural Development Ministry’s Api Wawamu Rata Nagamu production drive.

A rich harvest has been recorded from cowpea, green gram, under (phaseolus max) and other cultivations undertaken specially in the Mahiyangana area. The Hadabima Authority has formulated its own purchasing program to help cultivators in the area and ensure a reasonable price for their produce.
