Seminar for MoH officers

Healthcare and Nutrition Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva has ordered a one day seminar for MoH officers attached to all 350 MoH offices to strengthen the national immunisation program as recommended in the WHO report on the death of a schoolgirl from Matara who died after administering Rubella vaccine, a ministry spokesman said.

He said all MoH officers will be trained during the workshops on April 22 and 23 in Colombo. This will be the first step of strengthening the national immunisation program. The ministry will take further action to strengthen the program as recommended in the WHO report. It is reported that people are now reluctant to receive vaccines after the Matara incident.

According to the WHO report, Sri Lanka's national immunization program is 100 percent successful and it is one of the main reasons which helped to raise life expectancy in Sri Lanka up to 71 years.
