Seetha Devi ‘A’ and ‘B’ joint champions

Seetha Devi Sports Club ‘A’ and Seetha Devi Sports Club ‘B’ in the
Women’s Championship and Peradeniya University ‘A’ and Old Kingswoodians
‘B’ in the Men’s Category emerged joint champions at the Lions
Seven-a-side-inter Club Hockey Championship organised by the Kandy
District Hockey Association and sponsored by the Lions Club of Grandpass
and worked off at the police grounds, Kandy. Both finals ended in
scoreless draws.
This tournament produced a high standard of hockey.

Quarter Finals
Seetha Devi SC ‘A’ beat Devians ‘A’ 1-0, St. Anthony’s Sports Club
‘A’ beat University of Peradeniya ‘B’ 2-1, Pushpadana SC beat Young
Stars SC 2-1, Seetha Devi SC ‘B’ beat Devians ‘B’ 2-1.
Semi-finals
Seetha Devi SC ‘A’ beat St. Anthony’s SC ‘A’ 4-0 and Seetha Devi SC
‘B’ beat Pushpadana SC 2-1 on penalty strokes.
The finals between Seetha Devi SC ‘A’ and Seetha Devi SC ‘B’ ended in
a scoreless draw.
The deadlock remained even after extra time of play. In keeping with
the rules both teams were declared joint champions.
Men’s Championship
Quarter Finals
Green Park SC beat Old Sylvestrians SC 2-1, Old Kingswoodians SC ‘B’
beat Young Stars SC 1-0, University of Peradeniya ‘A’ beat Old Rajans
2-0, Old Vidyarthians beat University of Peradeniya ‘B’ 1-0.
Semi finals:
Old Kingswoodians ‘B’ beat Green Park S 2-1, University of Peradeniya
‘A’ beat Old Vidyarthians 1-0.
Finals:
Old Kingswoodians ‘B’ drew with University of Peradeniya ‘B’ 0-0.
There was no result even after extra time and they were declared joint
champions.
