ANZAC trio picked for Barbarians
All Blacks Justin Marshall and Jerry Collins, as well as Australia
flanker Rocky Elsom, were among the first five players named Monday in
the Barbarians squad to play England at Twickenham on May 17.
Also included were former France flanker Serge Betsen, who like
Saracens scrum-half Marshall now plays his club rugby in the English
Premiership, for champions Wasps, and Martin Corry, the ex-England
captain.
Corry was capped 64 times for England, captaining his country on 17
occasions and also playing for the British and Irish Lions on their
tours of Australia in 2001 and New Zealand in 2005. England’s latest
match against the Barbarians, rugby union’s most famous invitational
side, comes ahead of their two-Test series with Argentina in June.
They may be without several leading players depending upon how many
of Martin Johnson’s men are selected for the British and Irish Lions
series against world champions South Africa.
