We must be ready for challenges - JHU

There will be more international pressure in varied forms in the future in an effort to save Prabakaran. We as a nation must be well prepared to face these challenges from our enemies, the Jathika Hela Urumaya (JHU) said in a press release.

The JHU has made this call in the backdrop of a statement British Labour Party legislator John Ryan has issued where he threatened to use his influence to remove Sri Lanka from the Commonwealth membership if the Sri Lankan Government failed to enter into a ceasefire with the LTTE within 24 hours.

"We are not at all bothered over his statement since the British Foreign Minister has already replied him in a fitting manner," the release stated.

"Moreover any attempt to save this ruthless terrorist leader is not in keeping with the democratic, humanitarian and fundamental principles of any nature.

"This is more so with the highly democratic body like Commonwealth," the statement added.
