Blood donation
There will be a blood donation campaign at the Ethkanda Viharaya,
Kurunegala on March 28, 2009 from 8.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. This campaign
is organised by the Development Lotteries Board under the motto 'Donate
Blood to Encourage War Heroes'.
Vesak lantern contest
Applications for a Vesak lantern competition has been called by
Viharadhipathi of Abinavarama Temple at Raddoluwa, Seeduwa.
This exhibition will be held from May 8 to 10 at the temple premises
to mark Poson Poya Day.
First three winners will get Rs. 50,000, Rs. 30,000 and Rs. 20,000.
Schools and Daham Pasals will be given Rs. 10,000, Rs. 7,500 and Rs.

Medical update for IMPA Members
The March medical update for doctors in the Independent Medical
Practitioners' Association (IMPA) will be held at the Colombo Apollo
Hospital on March 29.
IMPA President Dr. Sydney Jayasuriya said the February program in
this monthly medical update was held at Navaloka Hospital, Colombo and
private hospitals collaborate with the IMPA in these medical updating
programs of the IMPA members.
Dog sterilization in Rawathawatte
The Y's Men's Club of Moratuwa in collaboration with the Moratuwa
Municipal Council Veterinary Department and the Animal Welfare
Protection Association will conduct a dog sterilization program on March
29 from 8 a.m. at 281/A, Galle Road, Rawathawatte (Opposite Prince of
Wales College).
Christian retreat
The Community of the Risen Lord is conducting a 4 Step Retreat at St.
Peter's College Hall, Colombo on March 28 and 29.
It will start on March 28 from 1.30 p.m. - 8.30 p.m. and on March 29
from 9.30 a.m. - 6.30 p.m with celebration of Holy Mass.
Lunch will be provided to all participants on Sunday.
Conference
A National conference in Islam and Pluralism jointly organised by the
Canadian High Commission in Sri Lanka and the National Peace Council of
Sri Lanka will be held at BMICH on March 29 from 9.00 a.m. to 3.00 p.m.,
as a culmination of the program series of Pluralism workshops held
across the island.
AGM
The Past Pupils’ Association of the Convent of Mary Immaculate,
Matara (Colombo Branch) will hold its 36th Annual General Meeting on
Saturday, March 28 at 12 noon at the Peach Valley Chinese Restaurant,
No. 27, Flower Road, Colombo 7 followed by lunch. New members will be
enrolled on that day.

Central College OBA will be held, on Sunday, March 29 at the Liyanka
Reception hall Sri Devananda Road Piliyandala at 9.30 a.m.

The AGM of the Kumpulan Melayu Battaramulla (KMB), Battaramulla Malay
Association will be held on March 29 at 3 p.m. at 44/3, Obahena Road,
Madiwela, Kotte. The KMB will have their annual recital of Rasool
Mowlood at 10 a.m. followed by a Bayan on the same day.

on Saturday, March 28 at 4 p.m. at the Rupee Fund Building.
The Rupee Fund founded in 1953 is a social service organization,
incorporated by an act of Parliament.

its Annual General Meeting on March 29 Sunday at 10 a.m.
Prayers, lectures
The program will commence on Sunday, March 29 Rathibathul Jalaliya
will be recited by M. Y. M. Rafi Moulavi A. B. M. Mubarak (Falahi). It
will start after Magrib prayers and it will continue till Isha prayers.
A religious lecture will also be conducted by Moulavi M. T. Hillrudeen (Falahi)
after Isha prayers.
