Peterites win by 22 runs

St. Peter's College, Bambalapitiya scored a 22-run win over Dharmaraja College, Kandy in their inter-school under-19 limited overs cricket tournament match played at University Ground, Peradeniya yesterday. This was a replay of the match which was on Tuesday at the same venue after rain had washed off play with only one innings being completed with the Peterites took first strike and scored 191 all out in 44.1 overs with Shivraj Ranasuriya being the top scorer making 46. Medium pacer Tharindu Dandeniya captured 4 for 21.

When the Rajans batted there was rain and they were set a revised target of 117 in 20 overs under the parabola formula. They scored 91 for 6 in 20.1 overs leaving Peterites winners by 22 runs.

St. Peter's: 191 all out in 44.1 overs (Shivraj Ranasuriya 46, Angelo Perera 21, Arshu Fernando 38, Ashan Wickremasinghe 19, Tharindu Dandeniya 4 for 21, Pratap Silva 2 for 33).

Dharmaraja: 91 for 6 in 20.1 overs (Buwaneka Ekanayake 25, Rahula Ekanayake 35 n.o, Hemal Munaweera 15 n.o, Angelo Perera 3 for 19, S. Kumara 2 for 10).

Shameera shines

Skipper Shameera Weerasinghe hammered a sparkling 75 from 80 deliveries to lead St. Joseph's College to a convincing 79 run victory over Trinity College Kandy in their Munchee inter school knock out limited overs cricket tournament match worked off at Darley Road yesterday.

St. Joseph's: 245 in 49.1 overs (N. de Silva 46, J. Jayasinghe 23, S. Weerasinghe 75, S. Wickrema 4 for 32, R. Jalil 2 for 47)

Trinity: 166 in 39.3 overs (K. Wimalaweera 31, K. Jayasuriya 24, S. Wijesuriya 26, M. Saddique 21, S. Wickrema 28, C. Kumara 2 for 26, S. Jayatilleke 2 for 25)
