Security Forces captured a safe house of Pottu Amman, while engaged in counter terrorist operations in the general area South of Iranapalai on Tuesday.

According to military sources, troops of the 20th Gajaba Regiment under the 58 Division captured the safe house used by Pottu Amman and Kapil Amman. Military spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said troops also found a jeep believed to have been used by Pottu Amman.

“Tigers’ put on stiff resistance to hold Pottu Amman’s highly fortified safe house. Troops successfully repulsed LTTE resistance and the Tigers suffered heavy damages and fled the area,” Brigadier Nanayakkara said.

A large amount of anti-personnel mines were also found in the search and clearing operations, sources added.
