Wasps attack 25 in Sigiriya

Around 25 local and foreign tourists including 16 schoolchildren were attacked by wasps in Sigiriya yesterday morning.

Police spokesman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said 16 students from Rajangana School, two teachers and three foreign and four local tourists were attacked by wasps on the Sigiriya rock around 10.00am. "The tourists were rushed to Sigiriya Hospital. All victims are recovering," he added. According to Dambulla Hospital sources a medical team including six doctors, six nurses and two attendants were dispatched to Sigiriya Hospital.
