More SLAS officers

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed Public Administration Ministry Secretary to appoint recruits of Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS), in administrative positions in difficult areas including the Northern and Eastern regions once they complete their training at the Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA).

There are over 200 SLAS recruits receiving training at the SLIDA at present. The President has directed the Secretary to appoint them in administrative positions as there is a large number of vacancies for such posts in some areas, Public Administration Ministry sources said.

The Ministry Secretary has been instructed to appoint all of them at end of their training with an aim to ease the burdens of the public and to streamline public administration in these areas, sources said.
