Creativity and talent shone through as Visithru, a group exhibition
showcasing local handicraft items took over the Lionel Wendt last week.
The three day event shed light into a number of novel hereditary
handicraft items like wooden masks, wood carvings, Dumbara - Hana mats,
pottery, ceramic and terracotta items, lacquer ware, creations made out
of eco-friendly handmade paper, reed and rush, lace work, brass and
silver items and products made out of Palmyra.
Presented by the National Crafts Council (NCC) together with the
Ministry of Rural Industries and Self-employment, Visithru not only
opened a market for a set of craftsmen with unique talents but it also
exhibited the beauty of the country's handmade products to the local and
international arena.
Our photographer Ruwan de Silva snapped these memorable moments from
the event which was sponsored by Lankaputhra Development Bank.
