Li reaches fourth round at Indian Wells

China's Li Na continued her recent strong play Sunday, eliminating former world number one Amelie Mauresmo in the third round at the 4.5 million-dollar Indian Wells hardcourt tournament.

Li ranked 45th in the world, defeated 17th-seeded Mauresmo 7-5, 6-2.

In the round of 16 she will face fourth-seeded Russian Vera Zvonareva, a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Czech Petra Kvitova.

Last week Li, owner of two WTA titles, reached the final of the WTA event in Monterrey, Mexico, falling to France's Marion Bartoli in last Sunday's final.
