Defence Secretary meets relatives of war heroes

A special meeting was held yesterday around 10.00am at the Saliyapura, Gajaba army camp in Anuradapura between Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security, Law and Order Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and relatives of the soldiers who laid down their lives for the motherland and those who disappeared during the war.

During the meeting Secretary of Defence personally intervened and discussed the problems of the members of those families. He had also agreed to solve their problems. Meanwhile, officers of the Seva Vanitha Unit of the Ministry of Defence discussed the problems of the family members who served the three forces Army, Navy, Air Force.

The Defence Secretary said that the names of these war heroes who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland will always be remembered.

After the meeting Secretary of Defence along with the officials visited the Victory Army Hospital to see the soldiers who were wounded in the humanitarian mission.

This meeting was organised by the Ranaviru Seva Authority. Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Vily Gamage, Additional Secretary B.K.U.A. Wickramasinghe, Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Ayoma Rajapaksa, the Commandant of the Saliyapura, Gajaba Army Camp Colonel P.J. Gamage along with officers of the Three Forces were present.
