Sample checks on imported milk food to continue

Since the first reports received on imported milk powder that
contained Melamine, Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry have been carrying
out regular monitoring and testing of imported milk powder.
Therefore any type of complaint will be throughly investigated,
Director General, Health Services, Dr. Palitha Maheepala told the Daily
News. Dr. Maheepala said that the Ministry collects samples from all
imported milk powder brands and spends a large amount of funds to get
those samples of imported milk powder tested.
The Healthcare and Nutrition Ministry is always willing to
investigate any type of complaint made by any party in connection with
imported milk powder,” he said.
When inquired about the complaint made by Mawbima Lanka Padanama on
removing milk fat from imported milk powder and adding palm oil and
animal fat, Dr. Maheepala said that he was away from his office on
official duties during past few days and he will hold a discussion and
take immediate action to conduct an investigation on the issue as soon
as he receives the complaint. |
