Wimal reveals conspiracy against Sri Lanka

There is reliable information about a UN engineered conspiracy to level war crimes charges against the Government. This conspiracy is being hatched on the compulsion and intervention of the LTTE, said National Freedom Front leader Parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa.

Addressing a press conference held at NFF headquarters, Battaramulla yesterday Weerawansa said it had been a normal trend among world powers to level baseless allegations against a sovereign Government whenever it got ready to crush terrorism.

If the UN thought that the people of this country would believe such baseless allegations it would be a joke. Weerawansa said he would urge local UN authorities to correct this wrong impression of their parent body. If not the day people of this country would come on the streets in protest against UN double standards would not be long.

Weerawansa said our war heroes were achieving victories against terrorism with zero civilian casualties.

They were engaged in a humanitarian war to liberate the country from terrorism and not to harm innocent civilians. Weerawansa said the LTTE had shot civilians fleeing from their clutches and a UN worker but the UN had failed to take any firm action against it.
