NCPA condemns Trinco abduction, murder
The National Child Protection Authority has vehemently condemned the
abduction and killing of Jude Gerry Varsha, Grade one student of St.
Mary's Girls School Trincomalee and expressed its deepest sympathies to
the bereaved parents.
The Authority in a statement issued under the hand of its Chairman
Jagath Wellawatta said the objective of the extortionists and their
behaviour before the murder had features of a post war society.
Although terrorism may be wiped out soon the Government, security
forces and police will have to take great pains to prevent this type of
unseen terrorist activity.
The authority would therefore call upon all democratic political
parties in the liberated areas, NGOs and civil organisations to set up
organisational networks to prevent crimes of this nature which would
frighten and shatter civil society.
The people in these areas specially should pay maximum attention to
their children if they want to truly enjoy the joy of liberation from
terrorism. |
