AmCham, SLASSCOM to promote IT-BPO

The American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka (AmCham), the leading forum for trade and investment between Sri Lanka and the United States of America and the Sri Lanka Association of Software and Service Companies (SLASSCOM), the unified national IT-BPO industry association entered into a cooperation agreement by concluding a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The MoU was signed by Chairman of SLASSCOM, Ranjit Fernando and Executive Director of AmCham Chullante Jayasuriya.

The Memorandum of Understanding sets out the areas of cooperation between both organisations in advancing and supporting the business interests of the Memberships of AmCham and SLASSCOM.

Both organisations will partner each other to promote business between Sri Lankan companies and American companies in the areas of Information Technology (IT) and IT Enabled Services (BPO), jointly focus on bringing in global best practices to Sri Lanka and support human resource capacity development. SLASSCOM will act as a catalyst of growth of the Sri Lankan IT and BPO industry by facilitating trade and business, propagation of education and employment, encourage research and innovation, and support the creation of a progressive national policy framework.

The American Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka brings together more than 280 leading Sri Lankan and American companies engaged in trade, business and investment activities between Sri Lanka and the United States of America.

AmCham Sri Lanka maintains close relationships with decision-makers in the US and Sri Lankan Governments, trade bodies, national and regional Chambers of Commerce, and many other relevant institutions, in Sri Lanka and the United States, to promote the continuing interests of its membership.

AmCham Sri Lanka is affiliated to the US Chamber of Commerce, the largest business federation in the United States, representing the interests of over three million US companies.

AmCham is also a member of the Asia-Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC), an umbrella organization representing businesses in 25 countries throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
