DSS Rugby carnival
D.S. Senanayake College Old Boy’s Association Rugby Carnival ‘09
organised by the OBA’s Rugby Development Foundation will be held at the
CR & FC Ground on March 14.
Over 20 teams from Batch ‘79 will participate in this year’s
tournament.
The Old Boys tournament will commence at 1.30 p.m. Finals for the
Jaffer Sattar, Madhura Wickramaratne and Manjula Ariya Kumara Trophies
will be played under flood lights. The event will be followed by a
social.
The invitation schools, under 12 and under 14 tournament will be held
from 09.00 a.m. Isipathana College, Thurstan College, Mahanama College,
St. Peter’s College, St. Joseph’s College and hosts D.S. Senanayake
College will participate.
CIS in semis
Colombo International School under 13 cricketers defeated Royal
Institute by 41 runs to enter the semi-finals of the inter-International
Schools cricket tourney.
They will now meet Leeds International School Panadura in the semis.
CIS 142 for 7 wickets (Deshan Perera 77, Roshane Perera 17.
Royal Institute 101 all out (Roshane Perera 3 for 17, Deshan Perera 2
for 15, Thulhara Dharmadasa 2 for 18).
Semi finals match on Thursday 12th March 2009 at Shalika grounds: CIS
vs Leeds International.
Sports Meet
The Athletic Meet of Victoria International College, Kiribathgoda,
Kelaniya will be held today from 8.30 a.m. onwards at the College
ground. The Chief Guest will be Mrs. Chandra Wickremaratne, Registrar
National Institute of Sports - Science.
Wrestling nationals on March 17-18
The National Wrestling Championship organised by Interim Committee
for Wrestling will be held on March 17 and 18 at Sugathadasa Indoor
Stadium from 2.00 p.m. onwards.
Entries should be addressed to reach J.R. Mendis, Secretary, Interim
Committee, 18/15, Palliyadora Road, Dehiwala before 15 March. Minister
Gamini Lokuge will be the chief guest on the final day and will give
away the awards.
