It was another wonderful evening on March 4 where Joe-Pete cricketers
of all walks of life had a great re-union, where they met each other and
dined together at the colourful Elephant Lounge of Colombo Hilton.
The significant feature was the re-union of the Josephian Team of
1969 which they re-united exactly after four decades. "The only person
we missed it was at Rev. (Dr.) W.L.A. Don Peter, the Rector of that
time.
However I'm sure that he would have blessed us from celestial
observed Arthur Hikel the Josephian "Firebrand" of 1969 and who himself
a fine athlete.
There were many a Joe and a Pete who were present on this occasion
from Australia, United Kingdom, Canada and United States. The cricketers
of the calibre of Fairlie Dalpethado, Neil Weerasinghe, Ken Serpanchy,
Roy Perera, Talaf Ismail, Milroy Brohier, Raja De Silva, Dr. Mahinda De
Silva of St. Joseph's, Dion Waurs, Dr. H.I.K. Fernando, Dyan Madawala,
Rumesh Ratnayaka, Gamini Goonasena, Chrisantha De Alwis of St. Peter's
graced this memorable occasion. |
