Stableford Golf C'ships

The first ever Rotary International Stableford Golf Championship 2009 organised by the Victoria Golf and Country Resort and Rotary Club of Kandy will be worked off at the picturesque Victoria golf course at Rajawella off Kandy on March 21 and 22 (Saturday/Sunday) with the tee off at 7.30 a.m. each day.

This will be a stablford competition played over two rounds and the winner will be decided on the best stableford score per hold from both days of play.

There will be practices on Friday March 20 for local and foreign players to get acclimatised to the course.

This tournament will tee off on March 21 and will be followed by the auction of players and a dinner dance. Fifty per cent of the money collected through auction will be donated towards the Rotary International Fund which serves a deserving cause and the balance divided among the three winners.

The distribution of awards will take place at the Victoria Club house on Sunday March 22 from 2.30 p.m. onwards.

Apart from the Stableford competition, the other events will be -

Longest Drive - Day 1 and Longest Drive Day 2.

Nearest to the Pin Day 1 and Nearest to the Pin Day 2.

Straight Drive Day 1 and Straight Drive Day 2.

Par 3 Challenge 7th Hole.

Best Nett score Day 1 and Best Nett score Day 2.

Best Gross score.

The winner of the competition Best Nett score, first runner-up and second runner-up. Entry forms could be had from Victoria Golf and Country Resort or please contact Dhaniska Medagoda - Mobile No. 0777-840894. Entries are now being received.

Rain which fell during the past few days in the Victoria region has been a god send and the course which was affected by the prolonged dry weather is in the process turning green with the luxuriant growth of grass.
