Trinity-Antonian postponed

The 94th Kandy's "Battle of the Blues" between St. Anthony's College and Trinity College which was due to commence today (Friday March 13th) of Katugastota has been postponed due to the death of a member of a staff of the host team and the funeral to be held this weekend.

This match will be now played the following week on March 20th and 21st. The limited over clash has been tentatively fixed for March 23 and this date has been not confirmed.

The heavy rains falling in the hill capital has affected the ground conditions at Katugastota and if the match had been played today, very little play would have been possible.

Cricket fans are hoping that weather will clear up by next week for more play to be possible.

This decision to postpone the big match was conveyed to this writer only at 9.30 p.m. on Wednesday (March 11) and the decision taken by the authorities as a few hours earlier.
