Muslim Council condemns attack

The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka, which is a network of more than 120 National Muslim organizations spread across the country joins their fellow peace loving citizens of the country in condemning the dastardly and barbaric act of terrorism perpetrated on the people who were gathered to celebrate the birth of Prophet Mohammed.

Obviously this seems a well-planned and well coordinated act of terrorism and we are confident that the law enforcement authorities will soon discover the identity of perpetrators responsible for this contemptible act and bring them to task with the full force of the law.

"Islam prohibits terrorism as well as suicide and has no place for taking innocent lives or one's own life.

No cause, howsoever noble or just, can justify terrorism, the message said.

The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka specially convey its deepest sorrow to the friends and families of our Sinhala brothers who were effected by their presence to join the Muslims in the celebrations, the release further said.
