Arrested for under weight bread

The Galle district office of the Department of Measurement Units, Standards and Services, arrested 26 bakery owners for producing under-weight bread during a recent raid.

They have baked loaves of bread in the weight of 246, 250 and 300 grams, whereas the standard weight for a loaf of bread is 450 grams. All these bakery owners are to be produced in Court.The raid was conducted by the Galle HQI Sarath Gunasekera, Inspector J.B. Gnanatissa and assistants Laksiri Seneviratne, Saman Chandana Peiris of the Department of Measurement Units, Standards and Services.
