Women to lose jobs due to crisis

- UNCTAD

UN: The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) warned on Tuesday that women might lose their jobs in developing countries as a result of global market reduction.

In a meeting of experts in Geneva, UNCTAD Secretary General Supachai Panitchpakdi said that due to a rapid rise in exports at the beginning of the new millennium, women got many jobs in the sector. For example, women constitute 80 percent of total workforce in the textile industry, he added. Prensa Latina
