Lat Am prepared to face crisis, says OAS Leader
Montevideo, Mar 5 (Prensa Latina) Latin America is currently much
better prepared than other times to confront the current international
economic crisis, Secretary General of the Organization of American
States Jose Miguel Insulza asserted Thursday in Montevideo.
In his opinion, the fact that crisis did not began in the region, the
existence of macroeconomic and more solid policies, more developed and
stable financial systems and more diversified markets make the
difference this time.
We are going to be able to reasonably handle its effects, he said.
Insulza expressed the capacity to face the economic crisis varies in
each country, but refused to mention those most vulnerable.
He also emphasized the American states must develop their potential
through cooperation.
The OAS Secretary General will participate in the annual meeting of
the Government Network of Latin America and the Caribbean, in session at
the premises of MERCOSUR in Montevideo.
