The President also made an offering of a gold chain to the Sacred Relics. The President was accompanied by First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and sons Namal Rajapaksa and Rohitha Rajapaksa.

Large crowds gathered on the first day of the exposition of the Sacred Tooth Relic at the Sri Dalada Maligawa in Kandy yesterday.

One queue extended from the Sri Dalada Maligawa upto the end of D.S. Senanayake Veediya and the other extended beyond Mahamaya Girls’ College, along Sangaraja Mawatha.

Some people had lined up from Thursday afternoon. All devotees were clad in white.

Braving the heat, they waited patiently for their turn to pay homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic.

The exposition began yesterday and will end on March 16. The exposition starts at 1 p.m. and goes on till 5.30 p.m.
