Antonians hit back

Left-arm spinner G. Auwardt took 6 for 25 for St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena to restrict the strong St. Anthony’s College batting line up on the opening day of their inter-school cricket match which began at Katugastota yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.30 a.m.

The Antonians who were dismissed for 139, hit back to have the Benedictines struggling at 112 for 7 wickets at stumps yesterday. The match is poised for an interesting finish today.

St. Anthony’s College 139 all out in 51.1 overs (Hiran Wickremasekera 26, Malinda Perera 19, Sahan Pallihakkara 21, Kanishka Ranaraja 13, S. Silva 3 for 40, G. Auwardt 6 for 25).

St. Benedict’s College 112 for 7 wickets at close in 41.1 overs (R. Sherman 13, R. Weerasinghe 14, S. Diandalal 33, Kasun Ekanayake 4 for 42, Sahan Pallihakkara 2 for 41).
