Muslim Council condemns attack on cricketers
The Muslim Council of Sri Lanka expresses its shock and dismay at the
unprecedented attack on Sri Lankan cricketers at Lahore, Pakistan.
The National cricket team has been the symbol of unity and is the
pride of the nation.
It is indeed tragic that terrorism has targeted the national icon.
This damage is not just for Sri Lanka and Pakistan, but also for the
entire cricket - loving world. Our cricketing ambassadors were on
mission of good will. Pakistan and Sri Lanka have a long history of
friendship and co-operation. Both countries have been victims of
terrorism.
We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured and condole with the
families of the Police officers who sacrificed their lives in protecting
our cricketers. We also salute the bravery of the driver of the bus,
Mohammed Khalil who was instrumental in taking our players to safety
amidst this carnage. |
