Saviya International Women's Day - 2009 commemoration
A series of special community facilitation programs will be held at
the premises of Ruhunu Cultural Centre and Saviya Women's Vocational
Training Centre at Nupe in Matara throughout the day of 8th of March
2009 to commemorate the International Women's Day 2009.
Under the guidance of the Cultural and National Heritage Minister
Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, an educational drawing exhibition, an
exhibition of women's products and handicrafts, a job market, and
educational and entrepreneurship training programs are organised to be
conducted all over the day by Saviya Women's Organisation.
The 'Diriya Prasadini' felicitation ceremony will be conducted in the
auditorium of Ruhunu Cultural Centre at 2 p.m. with the participation of
Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena as the chief guest to honour five
pioneering women who have dedicated to the social and economic
development through various fields.
Vijitha Mallika Senanayake, who dedicated to carry Sri Lankan
students to the international level, Rohini Attanayake, who strived to
establish gender equality, Gauri Rajan, who offered her business talents
for the well-being of the people, Nitha Weerarathna, who worked for the
benefaction of deaf and hearing impaired people, the director of
education and special programs in Sri Lanka Human Rights Commission,
Shirani Rajapakse, who rendered a great service for law and social
equity, will be honoured with 'Diriya Prasadini' felicitations. |
