Cricketing legends honoured
Chris Dhambarage in Lahore
Two former Pakistan greats Javed Miandad and Hanif Mohammad received
their International Cricket Council (ICC) Hall of Fame caps at a
ceremony held during the opening day of the second cricket Test match
between Sri Lanka and Pakistan at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore
yesterday.
The ICC Cricket Hall of Fame is a legacy of the ICC Centenary, with
future inductions taking place as part of the annual ICC Awards
ceremony. By honouring the all time greats of the game the history and
tradition of cricket will be retained to inspire the stars of the
future.
However Pakistan’s World Cup winning captain Imran Khan who is also
among the list did not attend the ceremony due to his political
commitments. The charismatic Imran Khan who retired from International
cricket in 1992 has been busy with his political career.
A total of 55 past legends of the game will be honoured by the
establishment of the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame.
