Civilian foils LTTE bid to kidnap children

A civilian had prevented an LTTE attempt to kidnap children from the No Fire Zone. The civilian had grabbed the fire-arm of one of the three LTTE cadres who came to kidnap children and fired at the kidnappers.

In the ensuing gun battle the civilian and the LTTE cadres have all died but the children were saved from being kidnapped.

An INGO volunteer who witnessed this scene is said to have informed the diplomatic community about the incident, said a press release issued by Director, Government Information Department Anusha Pelpita.
