Govt assistance for industrial sector

Export Development and International Trade Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris met entrepreneurs representing a variety of sectors to review issues relating to their industries and to provide support for them in responding to current challenges.

Among the matters discussed were the measures adopted by the Government to provide a wide array of incentives to export oriented industries including direct payments relative to the quantum of foreign exchange relief in respect of electricity and fuel and flexibility in repayment of loans.

Prof. G.L. Peiris discussed a arrange of issues with representatives of the fruit and vegetable sector including customs procedures, improvement of the packaging industry and effective means of value addition and availability of land, especially in the Eastern Province.
