Development to be done by MP

The Child Resource Development Centre, at Hagala, Embilipitiya
constructed at a total cost of Rs. 7 million by the Ceyland (Pvt) Ltd,
Kuttigala was declared open by the Norwegian Ambassador Tore Hatterm and
Senior Presidential Advisor, MP Basil Rajapaksa recently. The land for
the building was donated by one David Appuhamy, a local philanthropist.
Ven. Dr. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera, President, Sri Bodhiraja Foundation,
Embilipitiya said the country has reached a very critical situation at
present.
The responsibility to make the country’s liberation from the
terrorism more meaningful, and to redevelop the war-ravaged areas, is
shouldered by MP, Basil Rajapaksa. Citing a parallel from history the
Venerable Thera said, when King Dutugemunu led his forces scussessfully
against the Chola domination, his brother Prince Tissa developed the
country and made it self-sufficient.
The Rajapaksa brothers too are today engaged in the same endeavour,
he said.
Senior Presidential Advisor, Basil Rajapaksa MP, said, it is our
prime responsibility to leave the legacy of a free and independent
country for posterity. The creation of righteous youth generation is in
the interest of the country, he stressed.
He said the Hambantota Port Development project is in progress. The
Government can provide the infra-structure facilities and it is for the
investors, the private sector to put the country on the road to
progress.
We are proud to observe the private sector is eagerly waiting to reap
the benefits from the port project.
Norwegian Ambassador Tore Hatterm said that Sri Lanka’s poverty level
has considerably improved during the recent past. He wished the new
educational institute would be instrumental in promoting pre-school
education in the area. Ceyland, Managing Director Wikie Hewawitharana
and several others spoke.
Minister, Jayatissa Ranawira and Provincial Councillor, Ravindra
Ranawira also participated. |
