Development to be done by MP

The Child Resource Development Centre, at Hagala, Embilipitiya constructed at a total cost of Rs. 7 million by the Ceyland (Pvt) Ltd, Kuttigala was declared open by the Norwegian Ambassador Tore Hatterm and Senior Presidential Advisor, MP Basil Rajapaksa recently. The land for the building was donated by one David Appuhamy, a local philanthropist.

Ven. Dr. Omalpe Sobhitha Thera, President, Sri Bodhiraja Foundation, Embilipitiya said the country has reached a very critical situation at present.

The responsibility to make the country’s liberation from the terrorism more meaningful, and to redevelop the war-ravaged areas, is shouldered by MP, Basil Rajapaksa. Citing a parallel from history the Venerable Thera said, when King Dutugemunu led his forces scussessfully against the Chola domination, his brother Prince Tissa developed the country and made it self-sufficient.

The Rajapaksa brothers too are today engaged in the same endeavour, he said.

Senior Presidential Advisor, Basil Rajapaksa MP, said, it is our prime responsibility to leave the legacy of a free and independent country for posterity. The creation of righteous youth generation is in the interest of the country, he stressed.

He said the Hambantota Port Development project is in progress. The Government can provide the infra-structure facilities and it is for the investors, the private sector to put the country on the road to progress.

We are proud to observe the private sector is eagerly waiting to reap the benefits from the port project.

Norwegian Ambassador Tore Hatterm said that Sri Lanka’s poverty level has considerably improved during the recent past. He wished the new educational institute would be instrumental in promoting pre-school education in the area. Ceyland, Managing Director Wikie Hewawitharana and several others spoke.

Minister, Jayatissa Ranawira and Provincial Councillor, Ravindra Ranawira also participated.
