The Munchee National Volleyball Championship 2009 commences today with the participation of 4267 men and women teams.

The first stage will be conducted for 267 secretariat divisions.

The winners of this stage qualifies for the Provincial stage.

Top three teams in the Provincial tourney will move to the national level.

This year the highlight is the participation of 48 teams from the Jaffna district (31 men, 17 women) for the first stage. Secretarial division matches will come to an end on March 1.

The ceremonial opening of the Munchee National VB championship is scheduled to be held today at Navajeevan Volleyball Courts, Pindeniya Kegalle with the Deputy Minister of Finance Ranjith Siyambalapitiya as chief guest.
