Now the east is safe and sound. Industrialists have the opportunity
to launch their development projects, said Vinayagamoorthy Muralitheran,
MP addressing a media briefing held at Industrial Development Ministry
on the expansion of the industrial field in the eastern province.
The MP thanked the UPFA Government headed by President Mahinda
Rajapaksa for providing an opportunity for the Eastern people to live
free. What the East needs at the moment is development, he remarked.
He appealed to industrialists to invest in the East in the interest
of its development which is vital for the promotion of the economic and
social welfare of the eastern people. Industrial Development Minister
Kumara Welgama said it is our responsibility to ensure the
industrialists of an atmosphere free from suspicion and therefore our
Ministry has launched a new program to encourage them to proceed with.
The President asked the entrepreneurs to tour the east first so that
they could see for themselves what the actual situation is. Security
would no doubt be strengthened.
To give the lead to the prospective investors, steps have already
been taken to set up five industrial concerns in the East, which will in
fact be supplied with electricity, water and telephone facilities.
A tax holiday will also be provided as an incentive, he said.
Peace Secretariat General Manager Roshantha Athukorala and a large
number of representatives from the industrial sector participated. |
