SLECC program to mark
International Women’s Day
The Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Centre (SLECC) is organizing
a Women’s Day program from March 6-8 to mark International Women’s Day.
“This is an exclusive event for women where they could be educated on
self-employments projects, new career opportunities, beauty tips and be
updated on important health issues, said Executive Director, Sri Lanka
Exhibition and Convention centre, Shanthi Outschoorn.
“This exhibition is the right place for women who are planning to
commence new business as several knowledgeable officials from government
institutions, Chambers and private bodies would be there to guide them
and provide first hand information,” she said. The event will also
provide facilities for women to undergo Pap, diabetes and osteoporosis
tests.
“Most of the time women do not have time to do these medical tests
and this would be a good opportunity, “ she said.
“This is also the ideal platform to get tips on family planning and
single parenting, discuss important health issues, to learn about
women’s rights and concerns and to be aware of non-discriminating laws
and policies.”
The activities also include cookery and handicraft demonstrations and
also games where prizes could be won.
Several fashion demonstrations will also be conducted by veterans in
the field - Premasiri Hewawasam, Chula Nanayakkara and INT Academy.
Patchwork secrets and embroidery designs demonstrated by Daisy
Vittachchi will also be held. |
