Kavindi - a promising swimmer

The promising swimmer Kavindi Sumathiratne of Lyceum Parents School, Nugegoda, performed well to emerge under-10 girls champion winning all three events with comfortable ease at the Inter-International Swimming Championships held at the Sugathadasa Stadium.

Kavindi won the 50 metres butterfly stroke returning a time of 45.83 secs, 50 metres back stroke 45.07 secs and 50 metres free style 39.23 secs. She established new records in all three events.

The swimming prodigy Kavindi also did well at the Inter - Lyceum Swimming meet held at the school, winning three events and becoming under-10 girls champion.

At the inter-house Lyceum International School swimming meet she proved her class winning all three events establishing new marks in the girls under-10. (L.F.)
